COLUMBUS, OH — October 10, 2010 — Halloween presents opportunities every year to dress up, collect candy and maybe watch a few scary movies. How many times does it require that you be armed and ready to sword-fight your way through the night? On Friday, October 29th, 2010, Royal Arts Fencing Academy of Gahanna, Ohio will be hosting its annual “Spooktacular Lock-in.” Kids, even the big ones, show up, fence all night long and watch movies in the Academy theatre.

“This is the most loved lock-in we do,” said head coach and owner Julia Richey. “The kids are still fencing at 5 am.”

Royal Arts hosts lock-ins throughout the year drawing both fencers and non-fencers alike. The favorite part of the Halloween lock-in for the kids is the maze. “The kids battle each other all night through the maze in the near dark,” Richey said.

In addition to the lock-in,  a one hour free introductory class is held preceding the event.

Date: October 29, 2010
Free Introductory Class: 6pm – 7pm
Lock-in: 7pm – 12pm Saturday
Early pick-up available for those that don’t wish to spend the night.
Cost: $30 overnight, $20 earl pick-up.

Royal Arts Fencing Academy was founded in 2001 by former Russian National Team member Julia Richey. The Academy is the premier facility training today’s fencing youth in the region and the host of the Arnold Fencing Classic, a part of the largest multi-sport festival in the world hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
